How pathogens enter our body?

Updated: Nov 21, 2023

A brief schematic video showing pathogens entering our body. First, the pathogen is introduced to our skin. Our innate immunity is activated. Phagocytic cells absorb the pathogens and carry them to the local lymph nodes. This helps activate adaptive immunity. Additionally, chemokines and cytokines are released. This leads to fluid influx. It helps recruit other immune cells to the site of infection. In the next video, we will discuss how phagocytic cells recognize pathogens or foreign substances.
